Editorial Guidelines
How we decide what to publish, and how we keep it accurate.
Which providers we review
We review eSIM providers that are actually usable for Kenya travel — meaning they sell a Kenya or East Africa data plan and run on a real Kenyan network (Safaricom or Airtel). We don't accept payment in exchange for adding a provider to our comparison table or giving it a specific rating.
How we rate and rank
Rankings and ratings are based on a combination of:
- Network coverage — which Kenyan carrier a provider runs on, and how that carrier performs in cities versus national parks and rural areas.
- Price and value — cost per GB or per day, compared across similar plan types.
- Plan flexibility — validity periods, data caps, whether unlimited options exist.
- Published review counts and ratings from the provider's own storefront (App Store, Trustpilot, etc.), sourced and disclosed per provider.
Affiliate commission rates do not factor into rankings. Where we have a commercial relationship with a provider — including Safari eSIM, which we operate — we say so directly on that provider's review page and in our Affiliate Disclosure.
How pricing is verified
Starting prices shown on the site are checked against each provider's own website at the time a review is published or updated. Provider pricing changes without notice, so treat the price shown here as a strong estimate and confirm the current price on the provider's own site before buying — every review links directly to the provider.
How coverage claims are made
Network coverage claims (e.g. "strong Safaricom signal at Maasai Mara Gate") are based on which carrier a plan runs on, combined with that carrier's known network footprint in the relevant region. Coverage inside remote wilderness areas and fly-camps varies by exact location and can be weak or absent regardless of provider — we say this explicitly rather than overstate coverage in hard-to-verify remote areas.
Freshness and updates
Every review, comparison, and destination guide page shows when it was last verified. Content is revisited periodically and whenever we're notified of an inaccuracy — see Contact to flag one.
Corrections
If something on the site is factually wrong — a price, a coverage claim, a network detail — tell us at contact@esimkenya.com. Verified corrections are prioritized over other content updates.
Authorship and review
Every piece of content on the site is attributed to a named author. Where a page shows a "reviewed by" date, that reflects when someone last checked it against current provider pricing and terms — not necessarily when it was first written.
